The cold storage buildings are a kind of warehouse with refrigeration equipment/functionality, used for large-scale purposes. Like the refrigerator we use in homes and commercial spaces, it functions on artificial modes to create an environment that is cool and different from outdoor temperature/ humidity. Cold storage buildings are used for storing medicines, food, chemicals, liquids and many items that require less temperature to be in good state for usage.

The usage of cold storage buildings in our lives have become more extensive, such as fruit and vegetable warehouses, food factories, dairy factories, poultry and egg warehouses, aquatic products warehouses, pharmaceutical and vaccine factories, chemical plants, blood stations, laboratories, etc. Some items that require low-temperature refrigeration can be manually set to a specific temperature for long-term preservation in the cold storage, which provides great convenience for our lives.

Types of cold storage building:

The cold storage’s construction structure is different due to storage requirements of different items. In general, a civil cold storage structure can no longer meet the increasing demands for cold storage. The emergence of prefabricated steel cold storage buildings, meets the higher requirements of cold storage.

The cold storage structures are well built, durable, fireproof, and have a long service life cycle. However, time required for their construction is high. The geological conditions are high, and the cold storage has many columns, which affects the stacking of goods and reduces the effective use volume of the cold storage. With the emergence and wide application of steel structure warehouses, steel structure cold storage building came into being.

The emergence of light steel structures and modern logistical needs have promoted rapid development of large-column grids and large-span steel-structure prefabricated cold storage buildings.

Based on design temperature of refrigeration;

  • High temperature cold storage (-2℃ to +8℃)
  • Medium temperature cold storage (-10℃ to -23℃)
  • Low temperature cold storage (-23℃ to -30℃)
  • Ultra-low temperature quick-freezing cold storage (-30℃ to -80℃)
